Martha's Vineyard hotels, resorts, and bed and breakasts guide!
Martha's
Vineyard is located seven miles off the coast of Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
Legend states that English explorer Bartholomew Gosnold named the island
after his baby daughter, Martha, and the abundance of wild grapes found
there. Today, Martha's Vineyard comprises six towns: Chilmark, Edgartown,
Aquinnah, Oak Bluffs, Vineyard Haven, and West Tisbury. Each town is distinct
in character, but all welcome tourists. Martha's Vineyard has long
been a vacation spot for the rich and famous. Notable past vacationers
are former President Clinton and Sen. Hillary Clinton. However, guests
do not have to be celebrities to enjoy a getaway to the island, which
boasts 125 miles of seashore, five lighthouses, and incomparable natural
splendor. The beautifully appointed interiors of Martha's Vineyard's
hotels mirror the gorgeous landscape of the island.
